Hostetler - Japan

David Hostetler was a member of Maranatha Chapel for four years before he moved to Japan in answer to God’s call. He has lived there for sixteen years now and is employed weekdays as an English teacher in Osaka where God gives many opportunities to share his faith with the Japanese who desire to learn our language.

As part of his outreach to the Japanese, David has for the last nine years been conducting weddings on weekends in the Japanese language for couples desiring a Christian-style wedding. This ministry provides a unique opportunity to present a clear gospel message to wedding guests who usually have not had a chance to attend Church. During this period, approximately 2000 weddings have been conducted, reaching a total of about 100,000 guests.

Prior to his current wedding ministry, David had primarily taken part in a variety of ministries at his home church in Osaka. These activities included teaching, translating, new believer discipleship, English Bible study, home fellowship, ushering and gospel choir.

David is living in Osaka with his wife Shihoko and two children, Rebecca and Daniel.
