There is a desperate need for college students to know and walk with the Lord. Two thirds of students raised in Christian homes walk away from their faith in college. There are many voices that call out to the college student. Many professors use their platform to push a certain agenda; some of them openly mocking Christianity. As students search for friends and community they often turn to unhealthy relationships in the party scene. Every person has a deep desire to be known and loved. In college this is critical as every student is searching for their purpose in life. It is my desire to show students that they are known and loved by God.

Cru (Campus Crusade for Christ) has existed since 1951 to bring the message of the gospel to every college student. The goal is for students to know at least one person who truly walks with Jesus by the time they graduate or leave. Next year I have the pleasure of overseeing the Santa Barbara City College Cru movement. “City Cru” is the only Christian organization on campus. Community college students are often overlooked and forgotten. However, I believe they are just as much candidates for God’s grace as anyone else.

I also have the privilege of overseeing a group of Freshmen Bible studies at the University of California Santa Barbara.  Freshmen year is, in my opinion, one of the most vulnerable times in life. Everything is new. My hope is to not only see freshmen college students come to know the Lord, but to see them discipled in Christ. If a college student is thriving in their faith their freshmen year, they are set on a good trajectory for the rest of their college career and ultimately the rest of their life.

“When He saw the crowds, He was moved with compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then He said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into His harvest.” Matthew 9:36-38

Thank you for joining me in my ministry to Santa Barbara college students. Your donations are a crucial part of this process. I can’t wait to partner with you in reachingIsla Vista, Santa Barbara, and ultimately the world for Christ.
