MINISTRY

Joshua and Rachel Escalante and their four children are living in Bethlehem, Israel.  They are teaching at the Jerusalem School in Bethlehem, an American Christian School which serves over 600 children from grades Kindergarten through 12th.  The conflict of the last several decades have left the people of Bethlehem with low employment rates and many obstacles to growth.   Nearly half of the population are children and due to the extreme restrictions enforced as a result of the years of conflict, many of those children will never have the opportunity to leave the 6-mile radius of their city.   Education is one key to unlocking new hope in the hearts of the children of Bethlehem and is a practical way to give back to Bethlehem and share the love of Jesus.  Joshua and Rachel's positions as teachers at the school afford them the opportunity to do this by building influential relationships with these children and teaching them about Jesus.  Together, they serve with a team of volunteers from the United States and with other Christian teachers hired from within Bethlehem and the nearby communities.  Their mission is to bring hope to the city that brought the world the greatest hope.
