Throughout the Gospels we see the widespread impact following someone personally encountering Jesus Christ. It’s clear that one life transformed by Jesus never just stays there. Changed lives impact families, communities, cities and can even transform entire countries over time.
During my freshmen year through a crazy series of events, I found myself at a weekly meeting for Cru, the US name for Campus Crusade for Christ Intl. After encountering Christian women in my dorm who had authentic relationships with Christ my perspective on Christianity dramatically shifted. At the next Cru meeting I heard the gospel explained clearly for the first time – giving my life to Christ that night.
Nearly ten years after that decision, I’ve seen God do incredible things through college students surrendered to Him. I’m blown away by how God uses them as they graduate with the mentality of being a sent one. The development, equipping and experience they gain during their involvement with Cru in college doesn’t end there. They leave sent to impact their workplaces, communities, and churches with a global vision and Kingdom mindset.
Tokyo is the heart of modern Japan and one of the world’s most influential cities! A bustling international metropolis, Tokyo’s streets and train lines teem with a population of close to 35 million people. The area is also home to hundreds of universities and boasts more than one million university students! These students will shape Japan’s future and influence nations around the globe.
On the surface, Japan seems to have it all: economic prosperity, cutting-edge technology, and cultural refinement. Its influence extends far beyond East Asia to the entire world. But scratch beneath the surface and you see the true spiritual reality: epidemic depression, emptiness, and apathy. The only hope for Japan is Jesus Christ. Yet most Japanese have never even met a Christian. Less than 1% of Japan’s 127 million people claim to follow Jesus.
